FSG/HART Maritime Security
We provide a full range of specialist maritime services in conjunction with our partners, Hart Security, one of the world’s leading maritime security providers. Never has security been so vital to shipping companies, ports and the global supply chain. Clear evidence indicates that terrorists continually seek new ways to exploit the weaknesses in countries’ borders and one of the most vulnerable to penetration those defences is via seatrade. The importance of port and ship security is therefore paramount. The international community is responding by increasing the regulatory environment and imposing more measures to prevent the interference of cargo in ports and at sea. Corporations involved in the global supply chain need therefore to ensure that they are compliant with emerging regulations and that they can demonstrate that security is an integral part of their operations. We can show that there are significant commercial advantages in integrating security into corporate plans.
FSG - HART Joint Venture
The primary focus of the joint venture will be upon the work with DP World and the establishment of the educational programme with the Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. The principle project that the JV targets to launch with and for DP World is at quite an advanced stage and involves security on a worldwide scale.
Core Capabilities
Maritime Projects
Threats to maritime assets continue to develop across the world. Piracy is prevalent in many areas such as the Malacca Strait, the Southern Red Sea and Horn of Africa, the Northern Arabian Gulf, West Africa and Central America. The trend in piracy is towards greater violence and this is regularly exacerbated by taking both ships and crew hostage.

Security Exercises (Auditing & Testing)
As to supply chain security, there is significant emphasis in increasing regulation which will affect all links in the chain from manufacture to delivery point. Central in this chain, and recognizable as choke points are the ports and shipping which provide an obvious target for those who wish to tamper with or hide goods across international boundaries. The USA is driving much of the legislation which is aimed at reducing the risk at ports and on board shipping, but the European Union (EU), the World Customs Organization (WCO) and various bilateral customs agreements are also introducing similar legislation and voluntary schemes to enhance security. Incentives are being introduced to persuade relevant corporations and authorities to secure their operations more effectively.
These measures will go beyond the ISPS code and those companies which embrace greater security will increasingly be the choice of port and carrier for suppliers who want easy access to the destination country.
