Description

A course formulated by the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) RLSS, ASA, IST and ISRM to unify all previous qualifications into one nationally recognized and approved qualification. The NRASTC has now been accepted in the UK as the approved standard qualification for swimming pool activity supervisors.

Objective

To provide students with the knowledge understanding and practical skills necessary to safely supervise “programmed” aquatic activities in a swimming pool and provide rescue and first aid in an emergency.

  • Pool Operating Procedures
  • Class Management
  • Emergency Action Procedures
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Poolside Rescue Techniques
  • Water Rescue Techniques
  • Spinal Cord Injury Stabilisation

Training Methods

Lectures/demonstrations/practical exercises

Student Assessment

Theory (oral) and practical skills assessments.

Validity

2 years from date of successful completion of the course, provided continuous practice is undertaken and recorded.

Entry Requirements

Qualified teacher or swim coach/membership RLSS or ASA (Can join on course) Swim 40 metres comfortably and be able to reach the bottom of the pool. Course is conducted in English.
