SS003 : Basic Arrest and Restraint Techniques
Duration
8 hours (1day) course.
Description
A course for personnel who come into contact with clients / customers or the public. Designed to increase awareness of the physical skills necessary to protect themselves and deal with problematic people in a discreet yet effective manner.
Objective
To make personnel aware of the skills and strategies they can employ to handle a confrontational customer who has resorted to physical abuse or violence. Skills are imparted in such a way that they should become instinctive, giving confidence and self-esteem to deal with other challenging situations.
Syllabus
- Dealing with fear, gaining and maintaining control of a situation, being discreet
- Introduction, physiology, breaking balance, distractions and deflecting an attack
- Breaking wrist grabs and arm grabs
- Developing restraint and escort techniques
- Dealing with punches and kicks
- Introduction to take downs and escorts

Lectures / Power-point presentation / demonstrations / video and practical exercises

On success - certificate of attendance.
