HS004 : Introduction To Risk Assessment - Part One

1/2 day (4 hours)
Description
Aimed at designated employees, this course gives an introduction to the general risk assessment process.
Objective
To provide trainees with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to enable them to make correct decisions on lifting procedures and carry out or supervise any lifting or handling jobs in a safe and secure way. Thus reducing injuries and damage to goods and improving employee efficiency.
Syllabus
On successful completion of part 1 candidates should be able to:
- Understand the stages of the risk assessment process
- Identify hazards and the people affected
- Identify risks and the people affected
- Categorise low, medium and high risks
- Conduct a simple risk assessment of their own work area
- Have gained the necessary competencies to undertake a risk assessment of a work area familiar to them, including recording the findings of the assessment and preparing an action plan
On successful completion of part 1 and 2 candidates should be able to:

Continual/Progressive.
Validity
On success - certificate of attendance.

Notes: Candidates will be asked to complete a risk assessment of an area of their workplace, for discussion and further work in part 2. Part 1 and part 2 must be booked together (A minimum of 1 week should be allowed in between part 1 and 2.)
Certificates are issued on completion of part 2.
