4 Hour Core Element, plus optional modules.

Description

Designed to refresh skills learnt in basic First Aid training.

Objective

To provide the opportunity for students who have previously received basic training to revise and refresh their knowledge and practical skills.

Syllabus

• Incident Management Primary Survey
• Resuscitation Skills
• Management of the Unconscious Casualty
• Secondary Survey
• Control of Bleeding
• Recognition and Treatment of Shock.
• Introduction to First Aid Theory

Module 1 - Maximum four of the following supplementary elements (Duration 2 hours) Bleeding - objects in wounds.

• Bleeding - internal
• Bleeding - amputation
• Heart Attack
• Fainting
• Burns
• Fractures and Dislocations
• Head Injury
• Angina
• Sprains and Strains
• Asthma
• Hypoglycaemia
• Epileptic Fit
• Stroke
• Poisons
• Bites and Stings

Module 2 - Simulated Training Exercises. (Duration 2 hours) : Scenario based, practical session. Building on topics covered throughout the day.

Training Methods

Lectures / demonstrations / video / practical exercises.

Validity

3 years from date of successful completion of the course.

Entry Requirements

Must hold valid First Aid Certificate.
