FA002 : First Aid Appointed Person Experience

Description

The aim of the National Rescue Standard for Appointed Persons (NaRS [APP]) Experience is to provide a candidate with additional practical skills and confidence as an appointed person to provide basic first aid prior to calling the emergency services when required.

Objective

To build on previous training to a level of knowledge, understanding, and practical skills necessary to deal with more complex incidents and conditions.

Syllabus

  • Choking, Asthma and Hyperventilation, Fainting and Anaphylaxis
  • Heart Attack and Angina
  • Internal and Special Sites Bleeding
  • Burns and Scalds and Heat Conditions
  • Poisoning, Epilepsy and Hypoglycaemia
  • Injuries to Muscles, Joints and Bones

Training Methods

Lectures / demonstrations / practical exercise / video.

Student Assessment

Continuous assessment with the option to sit a written assessment.

Validity

3 years from date of successful completion of the course.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must have passed a NaRS AP course within 3 months of entry onto this course.
